Annual Scholarship Program

The Greater Atlantic City Hotel & Motel Association held its Annual Scholarship Program at the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, presenting approximately $15,000 in GACHMA Scholarships to students from Atlantic Cape Community College, Atlantic County Vocational Technical School, as well as, numerous employees currently employed in the Atlantic City hotels and casinos, that are continuing their higher education for entry-middle levels of management in the hospitality industry.

Highlight of this Education/Scholarship Luncheon was the introduction of Dr. Herman Saatkamp, Jr., the next President of Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, in his first public speaking engagement in the Atlantic City region. Dr. John May, President of Atlantic Cape Community College introduced Dr. Saatkamp to over 300 attendees at the Luncheon. Dr. May’s welcome included comment that Dr. Saatkamp has a “big hat to fill” (ie: Vera King Farris).

GACHMA was founded in Atlantic City in the year 1898, by a group of Atlantic City Boardwalk hotel owners and operators, that cooperated on various hospitality and tourism issues. Today, these guidelines continue, with our membership comprising all of the hotel/casinos presently operating in Atlantic City, as well as, numerous hotels and motels in the immediate region. Additionally, and most important, our membership includes Allied Members, vendors which provide goods/services to our hospitality industry in Atlantic City.
